Description de l’offre

As part of an international ANR project involving the University of Vienna (Austria) and the University of Montpellier, the LICSEN team at CEA Paris-Saclay (IRAMIS Institute, NIMBE UMR-3685) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for a 18-month position.
The position focuses on the synthesis of organic/organometallic molecules (molecular magnets and chromophores) and their encapsulation in carbon nanotubes (CNT) or boron nitride nanotubes (BNNT) for applications in optics and magnetism. The successful candidate will be involved in the following activities:

  1. Synthesis of lanthanide-based “double-decker” molecular magnets (TbPc₂, DyPc₂), as well as organic chromophores, and characterization of the compounds using standard techniques (NMR, mass spectrometry, UV-Visible-NIR absorption spectroscopy, and FT-IR).
  2. Purification and dispersion of nanotubes (carbon or BN) and their characterization by UV-Visible-NIR absorption spectroscopy, XPS, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).
  3. Encapsulation of molecules within nanotubes (carbon or BN) using different approaches, including gas-phase, liquid-phase, and supercritical CO₂ methods.
  4. Characterization of the resulting materials using a range of techniques, including electron microscopy and the spectroscopic and analytical methods described above.
  5. Interaction and collaboration with the various project partners, in particular the Austrian partner, for the investigation of the magnetic properties of the materials.
  6. Presentation of research progress during project meetings.
Throughout these activities, the successful candidate will be supported by experienced researchers and PhD students in the laboratory, who will provide assistance with the learning of experimental techniques and the analysis of results.

Localisation du poste

Site

Within the NIMBE Joint Research Unit (UMR-3685) at CEA Paris-Saclay, the LICSEN laboratory (https://iramis.cea.fr/nimbe/licsen/) brings together chemists and physicists with expertise in surface functionalization and nanomaterials. The main objective of the laboratory is to impart new or enhanced properties to surfaces and nanomaterials, with applications in sustainability, renewable energy, and nanoscience for information and healthcare technologies.

Critères candidat

Profil du candidat

The candidate should hold a PhD in organic chemistry. Experience in materials chemistry would be an advantage. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, rigorous, and eager to broaden their knowledge and develop new skills.
