
Dr. Cyril A. Theulier studied Physico-Chemistry at Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris-Saclay (Cachan, France) and obtained a Master’s degree in Molecular Chemistry from the Ecole Polytechnique (Palaiseau, France). After his graduation in 2016, he joined the group of Pr. Dean Toste at UC Berkeley (California, USA) to work on Au-mediated trifluoromethylation. In 2021, he completed his PhD under the supervision of Dr. Didier Bourissou and Dr. Ghenwa Bouhadir at Université Paul Sabatier (Toulouse, France), where he used phosphine-boranes as ligand to study Lewis acid/Au cooperativity. Then, he joined the group of Dr. Jesús Campos (Seville, Spain) to investigate the coordination properties and the catalytic activities of Ge(II)/Ni(0) and Ge(II)/Rh(I) hetero-bimetallics. In 2023, he joined the LCMCE as a post-doctoral researcher working on Zr(IV)-catalyzed reductive depolymerization of polycarbonates. In October 2025, Cyril was appointed as a CNRS Researcher (Chargé de Recherche, section 16) at the LCMCE, where he is developing new catalytic systems for the activation and functionalization of strong C–O sigma-bonds.
