Description de l’offre

The Laboratoire Léon Brillouin (LLB, UMR12 CEA-CNRS) is France’s reference center for research and instrumentation in neutron scattering. Its missions include developing in-house research using neutron scattering, building, maintaining and operating instruments at various neutron sources in Europe. The LLB operates on two sites: Saclay (France) and the Institut Laue Langevin (ILL, Grenoble, France), a major research infrastructure.

The selected candidate will smoothly integrate into the existing team (one research engineer and one technician) as co-responsible for the diffractometer (video). The position requires strong theoretical and experimental knowledge of small-angle scattering and its applications in physical-chemistry, metallurgy, glass physics, solid-state physics (magnetic nano-objects, skyrmions…) or biology. In parallel with his/her own research activities, the co-responsible will also host and support external users performing experiments across all scientific topics of the instrument.
The job will involve managing the user program, participating in maintenance operations and expanding the capabilities of SAM, for example by proposing and designing new sample environments not yet available.
In parallel with their own research activity, the co-responsible person will be responsible for welcoming and supporting external users conducting experiments on all scientific topics covered by the instrument. Together with the SAM team, the co-responsible person will manage the user program, take part in maintenance operations, and broaden SAM’s field of applications. For example, they may propose new measurement environments that are not yet available, such as SAXS, levitation, light scattering, Raman scattering, the MIEZE option (Modulation of Intensity with Zero Effort).
