Interest in the behavior of 2D macroscopic systems under continuous and homogeneous input of energy has been boosted by their connection with active matter. In this talk I will discuss the phase diagram (in the density-strength of activity plane) of bidimensional active matter made of spherical and elongated constituents. I will characterise the nature of the various phases and phase transitions between them. This problem intimately linked to the celebrated, and yet not fully understood, melting phenomenon in two dimensions.
