The “INGENIOUS – sINGle microwave photon dEtection for hybrid quaNtum Information prOcessing and quantUm enhanced Sensing” project by Emmanuel Flurin, a researcher in the Quantronics group at IRAMIS/SPEC, aims to develop a unique microwave photon detector. The impact of this research of excellence will be the detection of individual paramagnetic electron spins. Single-photon detection is an essential resource for detection at the quantum limit, and a key technology for measurement-based quantum computing. This work will pave the way for cutting-edge applications such as ultra-sensitive electron paramagnetic resonance, the search for axions – prime candidates for dark matter – or modular quantum computing architectures.
