Nitrogen Level Detector

Nitrogen Level Detector

Project title: Nitrogen Level Detector

CEA collaborators: SPEC

Project status: first prototype in 2021, one board wired and integrated into an enclosure

Keywords: nitrogen temperature measurement, solid-state relay, user interface with buttons and LEDs, AVR Atmel microcontroller

The objectives of this project were to replace SPEC’s aging nitrogen solenoid-valve control unit in order to ensure the automatic filling of four nitrogen bottles at SPEC. The use of solid-state relays and an analog measurement interface with an adjustable detection threshold provides flexible adjustment and ease of use. This is complemented by the intelligence of the AVR Atmel microcontroller and the use of a universal digital bus, which greatly facilitate system configuration as well as the safety of the nitrogen filling system and personnel safety.

The 19″ board ready for test, the 4 slots for the microcontrollers have not been populated yet for this picture.
