High-Voltage Power Supply Control

High-Voltage Power Supply Control

Project title: High-Voltage Power Supply Control

CEA collaborators: LNHB

Project status: first unit delivered in 2021, in service at LNHB

Keywords: setpoint generator for high voltage, photomultipliers, multi-slope real-time ramp, 12-bit DAC, user-command USB interface, information and status via LEDs, STM32F303K8 microcontroller, Python library

LNHB is seeking to digitally and individually control the high voltages for a series of 6 to 12 ET Enterprises photomultipliers, model 9266KSB. The control is performed via a control voltage from +0.1 to +2 V, corresponding to an output high voltage between −100 and −2000 V, with a 1% resolution from −500 V upward (see the specifications of the ET Enterprises HV51K20CN Base). Since no simple commercial solution had been identified by LNHB, LETS proposed the development of a 12-channel control module, programmable via a Python library over USB. The addition of a base to the PMs is also proposed, allowing easy connection and secure mounting in the measurement tubes.

Test of the control board before delivering.
