At the end of an installation period in the ILL guides hall lasting 8 months, the small angle neutron scattering instrument SAM (CRG LLB) received its first neutrons on 4 March. The qualification of the instrument with regard to radiation protection has now been done and its commissioning under beam (“hot commissioning”) is now going on. The first experiments in “friendly user” mode are planned for the second cycle 2024, before the long shutdown of the ILL.
