ATTOlab: Video of the non-resonant photoionization of the helium atom using two photons

3D animation of the two-photon photoemission from a helium atom following the absorption of an extreme ultraviolet (XUV) photon and an infrared (IR) photon, off-resonance and involving the 1s3p and 1s4p states. Note the significant interference effects near t=0, leading to the photo-emitted electron being emitted preferentially in the direction perpendicular to the polarization of the laser pulses. The experimental measurement (right) is very close to the simulation result (left). The time t=0 corresponds to the maximum overlap of the two laser pulses. See the highlight.
