A one year contract postdoctoral research position is open at the laboratory for light element studies (LEEL, CEA/DRF) and the Data Science for Decision Laboratory (LS2D, DRT/LIST) and focuses on data processing based on AI and machine learning, here in the scope of Ion Beam Analysis (IBA).
IBA is a collection of techniques based on the coupling of simultaneous spectroscopies produced by non-destructive interactions of an ion beam with a target. Spectra modellings allow quantitative elemental composition evaluation. The large diversity of interactions imposes nowadays the use of various and independent computer programs each one dedicated to a single spectroscopy.
In the context of this project, the successful candidate will have to fulfill the following tasks
- Design of a multispectral dictionary, initially fed with simulated spectra and progressively supplemented with experimental data.
- Learning module development, with integration of some physics elements as they modulate spectral responses.
- Main code programming. On output, the software will suggest a composition, and when possible a depth profile composition, together with outputs from standard IBA analysis software programs in order to keep a link with physics concepts.
- For data provided from space resolved experiments (microbeam mode), it will be necessary to develop a module dedicated to multispectral mappings based on principal component analysis.
- Benchmarking: initially restricted to simple configurations inspired from dictionary data, the global behavior of the code will be progressively enlarged and evaluated with more complex configurations.
The postdoctoral research associate will be hosted and supervised within LEEL and LS2D.
PROFILE
PhD in data science, a knowledge in spectroscopy will be appreciated / PhD in Physics (spectroscopy) with strong knowledge in computer programming.
