Dans son projet "SPINFIELD - Controlling spin angular momentum with the field of light", Romain Geneaux, chercheur de l'équipe ATTO du CEA-IRAMIS/LIDYL, étudiera l’interaction entre la lumière et le spin des électrons, une propriété quantique intrinsèque directement responsable de propriétés macroscopiques des matériaux, tel que le magnétisme.
Le but de cette recherche d’excellence est de répondre à une question fondamentale : existe-t-il des interactions directes et cohérentes entre les spins électroniques d’un solide et le champ électrique de la lumière ? Ces travaux pourront donner naissance à de nouvelles façons d’utiliser des lasers pour contrôler l’aimantation ou la topologie de matériaux, des propriétés clés pour développer les futures générations de dispositifs électroniques.
In his project "SPINFIELD - Controlling spin angular momentum with the field of light", Romain Geneaux, a researcher in the ATTO team at CEA-IRAMIS/LIDYL, will study the interaction between light and electron spin, an intrinsic quantum property directly responsible for macroscopic properties of materials, such as magnetism.
The aim of this research of excellence is to answer a fundamental question: are there direct and coherent interactions between the electron spins of a solid and the light electric field of light? This work could give rise to new ways of using lasers to control the magnetization or topology of materials, key properties for developing future generations of electronic devices.
