Main activities and responsibilities

- Modelling, design and simulation for Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (2D layout, 3D design based on microfabrication processes, mechanical, thermal, electric, piezoelectric, coupled electro-thermo-mechanical analysis) and microfluidic systems (flow, diffusion, electrokinetic effects as electrophoresis and dielectrophoresis) using FEM / FVM based software packages – Coventorware, Comsol Multiphysics;

-  Design of microfluidic and electric components of microsystems for biomedical applications (micro-channels, electrodes);

-  Masks layout and technological process design for microfluidic systems (silicon, glass) and electric components;

-   Testing of electrokinetic effects on fluids and suspensions.
