Raman conversion at different time scales

Stimulated Raman scattering is one of the main nonlinear optical effects traditionally used for frequency conversion of laser radiation. Raman conversion of the nanosecond and picosecond laser pulses is widely applied in many areas. Expansion of this approach to shorter and longer laser pulse durations meets obstacles connected with the lack of laser power at long pulse durations and the development of competing effects at short pulse durations, due to high intensities. In this report, some ways for expansion of Raman conversion on longer (up to continuous-wave) and shorter (femtosecond) time intervals will be discussed.
