Synthesis methods

  • Solid-state chemical route, sol-gel process, self-propagating high-temperature synthesis or combustion, solvothermal and laser pyrolysis

Usual characterizations

  • Structural (XRD, SEM images)
  • Thermogravimetric analysis
  • Specific surface measurements (BET, pore size)

Spectroscopic techniques

  • Conventional infrared spectroscopy
  • Raman spectroscopy
  • Optical spectroscopy (absorption, emission and excitation spectrum)
  • Complex impedance spectroscopy (ionic conductivity of oxide ceramics)
  • X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy

Ion beam analysis

  • Profiling light elements such as H, Li, Na, Mg, more specifically in electrode / electrolyte materials protonic ceramic fuel cells (PCFC) or in batteries (ex-situ and operando analysis).
  • Techniques used:  Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy (RBS) , Particles Induced X or gamma-rays Emission (PIXE and PIGE) and Elastic Recoil Diffusion Analysis (ERDA).
