This experimental project deals with the ultrafast reaction dynamics of isolated molecules in the gas phase. The time resolved pump/probe method is used. The objective of the internship is to develop a one photon probe by mean of high harmonic generation.

In fundamental physical chemistry, reaction dynamics address the behavior of a molecular or atomic structure which is subsequent to an energy deposition. Our research Group focusses on isolated structures (in the gas phase) at short time scales (10fs to 100 ps).
The project aims at studying isolated molecules after their electronic excitation. In a first step, the internship will be devoted to the optimization and characterization of a high harmonic generation source. It will be used as a probe in a standard pump/probe experiment. Model molecules as DABCO or photochromic molecules will be investigated.
