Among more than 500 existing defects in diamond, the nitrogen-vacancy (NV) color center has attracted a lot of interest over the last decade. Such a defect, which can be created in a controlled manner and optically addressed as single quantum system at room temperature, exhibits several important properties for many different applications : from quantum information science to high resolution magnetometry and biology. In this talk, I will give a state of the art of recent experiments using NV defect in diamond.
