Phases and phase transitions in two dimensional active matter
Laboratoire de Physique Théorique et Hautes Energies, Université Pierre et Marie Curie – Paris VI
Mercredi 27/03/2019, 11:00-12:00
SPEC Salle Itzykson, Bât.774, Orme des Merisiers

Interest in the behavior of 2D macroscopic systems under continuous and homogeneous input of energy has been boosted by their connection with active matter. In this talk I will discuss the phase diagram (in the density-strength of activity plane) of bidimensional active matter made of spherical and elongated constituents. I will characterise the nature of the various phases and phase transitions between them. This problem intimately linked to the celebrated, and yet not fully understood, melting phenomenon in two dimensions.

Un café sera servi dans le hall à partir de 11H
