50 years of neutron research in Berlin - invitation to celebration at BENSC
On 25 July 1958 the first research reactor in Berlin became critical. This date marked the beginning of research with neutrons at the Hahn-Meitner-Institut. We want to celebrate the 50
th anniversary of this event with a scientific symposium that will take place on
14-15th July 2008 at the lecture hall of the Helmholtz Centre Berlin for Materials and Energy (until recently Hahn-Meitner-Institut) in Berlin-Wannsee.
The programme will include:
• Presentations on the past and the future of neutron research in Berlin
• Scientific talks on current trends in neutron science by Andrew Taylor (ISIS), Kazu Kakurai (JAEA) and other renowned researchers
• Poster session presenting research of younger researchers working with neutrons

P.S. : In January 2009, the Hahn-Meitner-Institut will merge with BESSY to form a new centre within the Helmholtz Association – the Helmholtz Centre Berlin for Materials and Energy. For formal reasons, the HMI assumed the new name in May 2008.
