Projet ANR CARAMEL

The ANR CARAMEL project aims to develop a unique tool for characterizing the magnetic properties of the surface of materials at the nanometric scale by combining highly sensitive nanometric magnetoresistive sensors and an atomic force microscope. This tool aims at two major innovative applications: magnetic nanometrology and magnetic susceptibility imaging, which will have potential spin-offs for the non-destructive characterization of materials and the study of nanometric magnetic structures.

The objective is to develop an original tool allowing the characterization and imaging of surface magnetic properties with a submicronic resolution. This new type of magnetic microscope could have applications and an impact in various fields, from fundamental to industrial. It opens new perspectives for the characterization and analysis of materials, with the aim of monitoring in situ the behavior of materials, non-destructive testing, nanometrology or the study of the properties of new materials.

The project is supported by the french national research agency (ANR) under grant number ANR-18-CE42-0001.
