UV-induced processes in DNA helices
logo_tutelle logo_tutelle

We are interested in the primary events occurring in DNA helices between photon absorption and photochemical reactions. We study Franck-Condon excited states, the redistribution of the excitation energy among various types of excited states, base dimerization, one-photon ionization as well as the fate of the resulting radicals. We focus, in particular, on collective excited states (Frenkel excitons, charge transfer states and their combinations), their dependence on conformational disorder and their role in DNA photoreactivity.
