Evaluation Committee

Requests for experiments are subject to expertise and evaluation by an external committee. This committee evaluates the scientific relevance of the proposals and examines the adequacy with the technical characteristics of the facility, in coordination with LEEL staff.

Applications can be filled at any time, an evaluation will be made no later than 3 months after submission. The granted beam time has to be scheduled within 6 months after acceptance of your project.

Proposal evaluation is completed exclusively on the basis of the application form + project + previous experimental report (if any).

In case of renewal, a particular attention will be given by the committee to the quality of the report and outputs (publications), including the collaboration of LEEL members to the published experiments.

- Important ! -  Applications are filled online, through the link available at the IRAMIS website.

This form must be fully completed in one shot. In case of necessity, fill a second request, stating that it replaces the previous one. We advise you to:

  • consult the entire form to find out what is required.
  • gather all the necessary information: prepare the requested texts (Project: 3 pages at most, previous experience report: not more than 2 pages, all figures included, to be collected in a single .docx file).
The form allows you to attach only one file, limited to 2 MB.
  • Fill in the form.
  • Upload your file.

Scheduling your experiments

All the administrative procedures (dates, access, clearances ...) have to be arranged with your local contact designated from among the LEEL staff. Technical and scientific considerations (advices for sample preparation, data processing ...) will be arranged with him/her.

The Time Units (UT, 1 Unité de Temps = 12 h) are booked in pairs. An experiment starts at 9 am and ends the next day at 9 am. Maintenance or shutdown weeks are regularly scheduled during the year. A shutdown of one and half month is planned during summer (from July, 14th until the end of August).

The UTs have been allocated to your experiment for a specified period and must be used during this period. Uncompleted UTs at the end of the schedule will be lost. Book dates with your local contact as soon as possible, this will avoid imposing you undesired time.

Medical clearance

In all cases, you must provide a medical certificate issued by your employer's occupational health (less than 2 years old).

Dans tous les cas, vous devez être muni d'un certificat médical délivré par la médecine du travail de votre employeur (datant de moins de 2 ans).

Pour information, le tableau ci-dessous précise la description des nuisances et risques potentiels de ce type d'expériences :

Warning! If you are using deuteron beams for your experiments, you should possess a radiological classification, and the occupational physician who delivers the medical certificate must be competent in the field of ionizing radiation protection.

You will come to the laboratory equipped with your passive dosimeter.
